Banbury Canalside Consultation

Cherwell District Council has launched a consultation to find out what people think of its plans to improve Banbury Canalside. The council is eager to hear the public's views on the draft Canalside Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). The document seeks to promote development proposals to create a vibrant new community. It's available to view at main public libraries, the council's one stop shops and online. The consultation takes place between 2 November and 14 December.

The council is also holding an exhibition in Castle Quay on the 14 November, from 9am to 5.30pm, for people to come and view the proposals. Officers will be on hand to answer questions.

Plans for the area include:

  • the creation of about 1200 homes
  • new retail, office and leisure opportunities
  • a new primary school
  • public open spaces
  • pedestrian and cycle routes including new footbridges
  • multi storey car parks for railway station users and residents

Cherwell's portfolio holder for planning and housing, Cllr Michael Gibbard, said: "The council's vision is for a vibrant mix of housing, shops and commercial buildings that will invigorate the centre of Banbury. This is a chance for everyone to let us know what they think of the plans."

To view the proposals online please select the Supporting Documents tab below. To make comments on the document please register (if you have not already done so), then log in and select Start Survey below.

The event is not currently available for consultation.
